Lough - Herbert

Herbert Lough, son of Mr. & Mrs. HH Lough, died at the
Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis of appendicitis, on Sunday night
at 11:30. He was taken to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Mr.
Lough had been ill only a few days when taken to Indianapolis.
ALthough very ill from the beginning, he and his friends were
hopeful of his recovery and his death was a great shock to the
community. He was 33 years of age. 5 years ago he was married to
Olive Rinehart who survives him. He has been an employee of the
CI RR for several years and has recently been employed at the
Roundhouse. He was well liked by his fellow workmen as well as a
host of friends.
The following obituary was read at the funeral
which was held at 11 o'clock on Wednesday morning, in charge of Rev.
Olin Stewart. Herbert Harrison Lough was born in Waveland on August 25, 1886. He was the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. HH Lough. His
entire life was spent here, where through his kind and genial
disposition he had endeared himself to a large circle of friends.
He was married to Miss Olive Rineheart May 28, 1914. He had been
employed by the CI RR for the past 8 years and was held in high
esteem by his fellow workmen.
Herb, as he was familiarly known,
read often the messages of God on the printed pages of His word
and loved the works of his hands and in his studies of nature he
interpreted God's message of loving care and kindness to all of
his creatures. He loved life and thoroughly enjoyed living. In
his strength he delighted in making the burdens of others easier
to bear. In recent months he had expressed himself as feeling the
call of God; and when he was stricken, though it came eunexpectedly to friends, he was not unprepared. He leaves a
wife, father, mother, four sisters, one brother, many other
relatives and a host of friends to mourn his untimely departure.
While there was but a step between strong, vigorous life and
death yet his last messages were like unto that of the Psalmist,
"Though I walk through the valley and the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me." Burial at Maple Ridge. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Beasley
of Thorntown, Frank & Harry Rinheart of Lebanon, Cloyd
Riggins and Miss Opal Whitesides of Indianapolis, Misses Lena
Wycoff and Martha Irin of Lebanon, Mrs. Clayton Rogers of
Crawfordsville and Roy Lough of Marshall attended the funeral of
